The story of Effie’s Heart

Effie’s Heart, a clothing company, was founded in fall 2006 by a woman named Kimo Frazzitta in Santa Clara, Calif.

Kimo is from a small town in Oklahoma, but has long been rid of her accent. She is in her mid-30s, but her assistant, Claire Wilms, says one would never be able to tell by looking or talking to her. Kimo attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, as well as made her own clothing growing up, according to Wilms. A huge part of the inspiration for the clothing comes from her background in theatre.

The name of the company Effie’s Heart is dedicated to Kimo’s great aunt Effie. Kimo never met Effie, but grew up hearing stories of her colorful life.

“She played the guitar, threw crazy theme parties, and hand made all of her clothing,” according to the company’s Web site.

The company is named in Effie’s honor and spirit of living a fuller life.

The clothing is signified as classic, radical, modern, and practical. The clothing is made for modern women who enjoy an eclectic style. It presents a style where fashion and comfort combine to create clothing full of original inspiration, according to the Web site.

The closest carrier of Effie’s Heart items is Bowers Museum at 2002 N. Main St. in Santa Ana, Calif., phone number (714) 567-3640. For more information visit www.effiesheart.com.
