My Plans for the Summer

Story by Caitlin Manocchio

I don’t recall ever having plans for a busier summer.

After finishing finals, I will begin my summer with a family trip to Disneyland. I don’t have a season pass, so it makes it extra special when I go once a year.

The following week I will beginning taking classes at Pasadena Community College to complete those pesky general education requirements. I’m hoping to graduate early to save some money. After finishing classes at the end of June I will gear up for my trip to Europe.

I will be travelling to Bologna, Italy to attend Il Cinema Ritrovato with my fellow film students at Chapman. The festival will last for ten days. As an aspiring film archivist I can’t wait to learn about the restoration process of international and Hollywood films. After, going to the film festival I will be heading to Paris for five days and ending with a short day trip to Bruges, Belgium.

Lastly, I can’t wait to attend Nerd HQ. Nerd HQ is an event held in San Diego during the same week as ComicCon. Actor of the hit NBC series Chuck, Zachary Levi hosts the event every year bringing the most popular panelists from ComicCon for those who couldn’t get their hands on a ticket. Panels are only $20 each and last year I attended a panel with the cast of the BBC America show Orphan Black. It was a blast.

As for the rest of the summer I haven’t decided yet. I’ve applied to several internships and I’m currently interviewing for a couple positions.

This summer may be hectic, but I can’t wait for what it holds for me.
