NFL stars and their nicknames

The NFL has produced several stars based not only on their athletic abilities, but also on their likeability. Some former NFL stars like OJ Simpson, “The Juice,” who played for 49ers or Terry Bradshaw, “the guy from the Radio Shack,” who played for the Steelers are now pseudo celebrities. Along with stardom come quirky nicknames. Here a few nicknames of current players:

“T.O.” – Cowboys’ wide receiver Terrell Owens

“Big Ben” – Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger

“Megatron” – Lion’s wide receiver Calvin Johnson

“Cadillac” – Buccaneers’ running back Carnell Williams

“Porkchop” – Seahawks’ offensive tackle Floyd Womack

“Lights Out” – Chargers’ outside linebacker Shawne Merriman

After getting fined $5,000 for wearing “Ocho Cinco” on his jersey, attention-getter Chad Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals has legally changed his last name to Ocho Cinco. The name is Spanish for his jersey number 85 and is now legally printed on his jersey. Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis, who has butted heads with Chad Ocho Cinco in the past over his attention-grabbing stunts, disagrees with the name change and refers to him as “Ocho Psycho.” Regardless of how others feel about the change, Ocho Cinco is making a name for himself, literally.
